Part 1 - Leicester

Born in Leicester but grew up in the Channel Islands - My Dad took me to football matches whenever we visited England
First match was Leicester 0 - 2 leeds at Filbert Street in 1974
I didn't see Leicester win a game until the 10th time I saw them
For a few years I then had no interest in football - Too much tied up in music
Then one day I saw a league table in a sunday paper - Leicester top of the league - How could this possibly be - I'd seen Leicester and they were the biggest pile of cráp ever!
Anyway my interest in football was rekindled
Since I moved back to Leicester I've been a regular at Filbert Street and The Walkers Stadium - At this moment in time I am asking myself why?

Part 2 - St Pauli

It's all down to Punk Rock! - I grew up with Punk and when I moved back to England I got involved in music both playing and working as driver / roadcrew / guitar technician etc for a bunch of bands

My first tour outside of the UK was in 1988 and kicked off in Hamburg (The gig was at The Stortebecker in the basement of the squated hotels on the Haffenstrasse)
So, whilst I was in Hamburg I saw that all the Punks were St Pauli supporters - I was also told that the St Pauli goalkeeper lived in the Haffenstrasse squats
After we left Hamburg and treked around Germany I found that it wasn't just the Punks from Hamburg who were supporting St Pauli - It was Punks right across the country
During that tour I learned a lot about the culture of St Pauli and the more I heard the more it appealed to me
There were some scary moments on that tour with neo-nazis - subsequent tours were worse (especially in the former East after reunification)
So a football club with a large Punk following and more importantly an anti racist following was right up my street - At the time I was ashamed by the levels of racism in english football and especially at Leicester (Thankfully there has been a huge improvement at Leicester in recent years - Shame I can't say the same about the football)

PS: I love the fact that whenever I go to gigs or festivals I seem to bump into people in St Pauli shirts and usually have a good chat with them

Know what you mean!! Although I don't think I ever bumped into you! Even missed you at Leicester!

Not sure what festivals I'll get to this year, I am thinking of doing Download - it just depends if the newly wedded Mrs Urbs fancies a weekend of camping and loud music for our honeymoon!!

Obviously everyone on hear is welcome to my stag do, as it will be in Hamburg at the end of May, whcihc just happens to coincide with St Pauli v HscumV!!!!

Have Fun,

Urbs.

I decided to bump this back to the top for no other reason than it's an all too familiar (and depressing) picture - Leicester at the bottom again

Rab C Douglas is very good at penalties - Both giving them away and saving them

Douglas is a good shot stopper, if he can stay on his line he's a decent keeper, but when he comes off his line he either takes out a defender and gives away a good scoring chance, or he gives away a penalty.

Chain him to the posts with about 3 foot od slack and you'll be fine

Well, by the time you read this you'll probably be back in 2nd place, as I'm off to put Pompey top - remind you of any season in particular ;o)))))

Have Fun,

Urbs.

It would be good (for Leicester) to have Pompey in the championship - We really need some points - And Pompey always obliged Cool

I'm really chuffed for you. Were you there? Great atmosphere!!

I know how you feel John.

I said to Mrs Urbs that I didn't like either team much, but as the game wore on I was cheering on the crisp munchers!

Anyway, that's another Prem team out in the 3rd round, and I'm amazed we weren't one of them!!!

Have Fun,

Urbs.

Wow John, Urbs - I never realised how much you both love Leicester (any particular reason?)

Based on recent performances (2 points in 8 games), plus cup games are not included in season tickets and it being a Sunday evening game - I took the easy option and stayed home and watched from the comfort of my sofa - Serves me right I suppose!

TBH I'm still in shock! - From your neutral perspective - What happened? - Were Spurs particularly poor? - Did Leicester play out of their skins? - How did it look from the outside?

It looked like the Premiership Fancy Dans thought this was another game where they only had to turn up to win, especially once it got to 2-0. They were cruising. Leicester then found the inspiration which the FA Cup can instill in teams and battled back.

A draw was probably a fair result, but hey, I don't like Spurs much and it serves them right for singing Easy Easy at 2-0!! (One of my pet hates that song!! It should only be sung when you are 4 or 5 up, not every time you go 1-0 up, a la Pompey!! Probably explains why we are the team who has dropped the most points from when leading in a game, must be nearly 20 points now!!!!!)

Have Fun,

Urbs.
