Mate has been into St Pauli for years. I think he got into them through the punk scene which he's right into (more into 60s stuff myself) When he came back from a visit he showed me the pics and told me a few brilliant stories. Been interested in them ever since.

If I dont get over to see them soon I'm going to go off my heid!

John - into the 60s stuff myself. Mainly pebbles style garage, freakbeat, Northern soul etc.

Hamburg has some of the best and most authentic 60s clubs and record shops going - you want to get yourself over asap as it's a really good scene. Football, booze and hammond a gogo. What more can you ask for?!?

i didn't know Hamburg had good 60's clubs and record shops, do tell more. My friend in Frankfurt who is into psychadelic (spelt wrong!) stuff will be interested as well.

I used to support Killie and went up to see them play a few times, just prior to the cup win, but the couple i knew up there split up and then cut me out of there lives, so i don't follow them anymore.

Oh blimey - now you're asking. I could take you to them, but can't remember the roads thet are on!

Two shops stand out. One was close to the Sternschanze S-Bahn stop and has a fine vinyl selection at the back - I think it had every pebbles and back from the grave LP in there, which is quite unusual. And much cheaper than in the UK. A good shop, despite the one or two dodgy fanzines extolling the virtues of English hooligans in the 1980s (why are some people obsessed with this?)

Second was either on or near to Schulterblatt (Slam records?) - the window full of Billy Childish records which is always good sign to me

With regards club nights, I think most know about King Cavalera and Beat Club but I was amazed at how many flyers there were for different nights at different venues playing this stuff.

I've also come across this website which was linked to a Northern Soul weblink I often go on. Looks like there's a Northern weekender in Hamburg the same weekend we're planning to come over for the game against Paderborn at home. Might have to pack my talcum powder!
