Hello all!
I'm a brand spanking new convert to St. Pauli, so have joined the forum mainly to try and find out what I've let myself in for
I found myself becoming more attracted to German football after learning more about the German game, supporters and football culture during the World Cup. Although I'd obviously heard of St, Pauli, I had no real clue about the team (still don't!) and the politics.
I flirted with the idea of following Schalke for a bit, but a mate of mine who writes a football blog mentioned St. Pauli in one of his posts a while back and it planted a little seed in my noggin that has just germinated.
I've now got myself totenkopf and retter t-shirts and would be really, really grateful if any of you guys could point me to other resources and threads to find out more about the club, so I don't feel like such a fraud wearing them |

Welcome. My advice would be to just take some time to read through some of the sections on this board. Most of the aspects of supporting St Pauli and living in the UK (& English-speaking world) are covered somewhere as well as how to see them in the flesh. on TV, where to get merchandise and even where to go for a beer when you visit Hamburg.
Enjoy. _________________ 'The tragedy of humanity is not in the script; the tragedy is that there is no script'

Cheers! I've been having a bit of a nose around. I've really been enjoying the links to the videos on YouTube - the supporters are amazing! |

Strangely, only the other day I was only musing to myself about the dearth of Spurs fans on this Board and lo and behold................!!!!
I'm assuming a great deal, of course but your Avatar suggests you may have a leaning towards THFC.
Welcome to the Board - if you do attend White Hart Lane then maybe we could catch up when Pompey show up for our usual Robbie-Keane-Drubbing?

Hahah! Yes. I was going to keep my team quiet for a bit - didn't want to make it too obvious that I was grasping for a new club as soon as our board entered into yet another self-destruct phase - but 'totenkopf hotspur' seemed such an easy win that I couldn't resist

Yes, I'm just a lowly club member, but get to most home games. Would certainly be up for a swift shandy! |

Welcome aboard.
'totenkopf hotspur' is class. Anyway, loads of places to find out interesting stuuf. My favourite link is Norbert's photo website: Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
I especially like the stuff from the U23 games. I'm gonna try and make sure my next trip combines a first team and a U23 match.
I'm still on a high from my trip to the Millerntor for the Bayer game at the start of the season. It makes all other football pale into insignificance! |

Welcome aboard Matsimpk, i wonder what our relevant couple of Gooners will make of a Spurs fan on here..
Seriously, there's loads of good-natured banter especially with our two Pompey-loving Webmasters and a particular Saints fan.
Was up at White Hart lane the other week, but i headed the other way and went to see Haringey Borough.
My youngest nephew is Spurs and is gonna see the Arsenal game next week.
As Les said, it's well worth the time in trawling back amongs the threads to read the old stuff on the board, somewhere i seem to remember some parts of the club history as well.
@Nick, you've missed out by not seeing the Amateures play, i'd recommend seeing them away at Altona 93 if you can, a superb old ground, nothing beats seeing a 4-0 defeat standing on the freezing grass bank whilst supping cold beer !
Amateure still aren't back at Sternschanze yet, i don't think but i can't remember the name of the "home" ground they're using at the mo.
I remember seeing my ugly mug on a set of Norberts pics at the home game with Cloppenburg a couple of years ago... _________________ He didn't go round nowhere, i just sent him round ! |

Hah, yes - I noticed that there was a Woolwich contingent here. That's going to put my new found St. Pauli solidarity and fraternity to the test, isn't it?

To my shame, I don't think I was even aware of Haringey Borough FC, but in my defence, I'm over to the east rather than that side of the Lane. I guess my local lower league sides would be Waltham Forest FC and Leyton FC, but I've never investigated either.

Will do - and cheers all for the welcome.
Are there any English language sports sites that cover St. Pauli?
edit: Oh, just seen that the official bundesliga site has quite a lot of stuff in English. |

Ever since the present-day Spurs became this shambolic parody of itself, I've actually become far more sympathetic towards them. Nowadays, taking the piss out of a Tottenham fan is like abusing the terminally ill.
It really is a sad state of affairs when you start to feel sorry for your nearest and dearest rivals...
But putting local rivalries aside Matsimpk - which we've been forced to do for about 10 years now - welcome to the board! _________________ Can you still have any famous last words if you're somebody nobody knows?

Joking aside - - Tottenham do have their share of tradition, history and glory and to ignore that would be a bit churlish. I used to think that once Alan Sugar was replaced Spurs might start to gain the upper hand in their rivalry with Arsenal - we've had it way too easy since Wenger's arrival - but if anything the board seems more incompetent than before. Without wishing to appear ungracious, your 'battle for fourth spot' with The Gunners is down more to Arsenal having 2 shit seasons (by recent standards anyway) although there's no doubt that Martin Jol is a quality manager, under whom I think you've improved. After reading this article yesterday, I can't feel anything but sympathy for him. What's your take on Levy?

I think I as well should announce myself!!
Been keeping an eye on St Pauli for the last couple of seasons, mainly due to the the culture and history of the club if I'm honest!
Probably not going to be too popular as a Saints fan (Southampton) with the P*mpey boys on here! |

How's the George Burley situation at Saints?
Being a Hearts fan I'm watching this one with interest. |

Bit sh*t to be honest!
We play the most entertaining football as we play it on the ground and pass, but that's not how the Champ is, hoof and kick is the Champ spirit.
He makes dodgy subs troughout the game, doesn't always pick his best team, and is always changing it.
The drink is rumoured, but won't believe it until I see with a whiskey and a red nose for myself!!!
Good manager, but inconsistent, there is rumbling amongst the Saints fans at the mo, as some want him out, even though they are out spoken I believe them to be in the minority!!! |
