Well I signed up for MyFootballClub as soon as I heard about it months ago, its taken a while but they have 700,000 quid now, nine clubs have asked to be considered for purchase and the members web site is coming on nicely.

I can't wait for a club to be purchased and hope this will become more common, get the fans not the businessmen more involved!!

has any one else signed up?

Any one who hasn't heard of it yet just click here

bloke who devised this project is a poisonous cunt who declined to answer any of my questions regarding the ethics, purpose and merit of his little game.

Oh and what questions and concerns did you have?

I have read various article regarding your venture and have a number of questions:

1 - How will you ensure that the supporters who have followed the club for years are encouraged to be part of the new regime - especially as the new membership will be drawn from non-local sources?

2 - What efforts will be made ensure the club realises the aspirations of its supporters but also grounds itself in the local community?

3 - Do you think it's right to allow the fortunes of a club to be dictated by members who probably see the whole enterprise as real-life fantasy football?

4 - How does your project compare with the 'cause' based efforts of AFC Wimbledon and FC United of Manchester? Surely your project will eventually suffer from loss of interest and dwindling membership as the novelty factor wears off?

5 - Will there be a consultation process with the existing fan base of the club you attempt to acquire?

6 - What happens to the club if it stops yielding a viable level of membership?

7 - How do you defend against the suggestion this is more about headlines and 'reality tv' than a genuine desire to engage supporters? Surely you should be trying to get a local base of support to aqcuire their club?

Thanks

Ok I am only a member but have read quite a bit of the forum stuff:
Question 1: How did the new owners at Man City, Chelsea, West Ham etc ensure this?
As a fan I would definetly buy a membership of my local club, which is not normally possible.
Mr J Deacon wrote:

I think the cash injection will help realise aspirations, but I expect the nine clubs that have asked to be considered need the cash so the aspirations will be not to go bust. I haven't read anything about moving the club out of the community, infact I know they are looking for clubs that own their own ground.

See the comment about Man City, Chelsea, West Ham etc

Not if they do well as I expect they will.
Mr J Deacon wrote:

Yes I think there will be.
Mr J Deacon wrote:

I expect they won't have as much in the transfers kitty! What normally happens?
Mr J Deacon wrote:

Easy that sounds like alot of tosh to me, I think people are joining so they can get involved, I for one think teams should be owned by football fans, the internet is allowing this sort of this to happen, I don't think a small club like Grimsby could find enough fans to chip in and buy the club, but a whole world of football fans can - and then they will become Grimsby fans, go to matches buy shirts etc etc -- win win for every one in my book.
Lets see what happens but I don't think it will be the last time this happens - hopfully it will catch on - I would quite like to buy a club in another country aswell.

So your not considering giving it a try then?

why the fuck would I get involved in his joke antics when I'm a founder member of FC United of Manchester and enjoy full participation in the club's decision making process (as does every member)?

FCUM has grounded itself in the local community, ensures members are included in decision making, promotes youth and community schemes and operates along I&PS rules.

To be fair, your responses skirt around the issue and citing west ham and man city is like comparing a pub team with Real Madrid - what the fuck does premier league football have to do with the level of club you lot will be bidding for? Entirely different ball game - small level of support, shit ground, cash strapped, journey-man players etc etc.

The whole project is a fucking perversion - how is some spotty geek in Essex going generate interest in some arse-end club in middle of nowhere? What happens when said geek gets bored? Fucks off and leaves the club in the shit.

Oh Ok good look with it you obviously have very strong views on the subject. I haven't actually heard of your team but hope it goes well.

I also hope myfootballclub goes well as well, to be honest and who knows maybe one day we will be in the top flight. We might even play you Laughing

You've not heard of FC United of Manchester? It's been on national tele, features in the national press and plays a full part in national sporting bodies like supporters direct.

If you haven't heard of FC what the fuck are you going to know about the club you end up 'buying'? Seriously, what will YOU as a member bring to your club? How will you ensure the club thrives/develops as a community club/example of good governance?

Sounds just up my street, apart from the small level of support you could be talking about FC St Pauli

It's fucking tools who get involved with myfootballclub who end up fucking up football and turning it into a play-thing.

1 - 1000's of members
2 - the same kind of fucking tool who lives in Germany and wants to buy an english club he hasn't heard of? Remind me again about your passion and interest in this club?
3 - What national tele did you think a fucking English football team would be appearing on? Seriously?

I think you are on the wrong forum, get a life and do one, why do you support St Pauli when you seem totally incapable of having any consideration for views other than your own.

There is nothing wrong with living in Germany but please don’t try it

St. pauli is a club with a tradition of left of centre support. FC United of Manchester is founded on core working class principles. Myfootballclub is a fucking bastard runt that perpetuates the notion you can buy anything you want without due consideration or ethicl intent.
