Probably not your probably a bit to dogmatic to be a drinking buddie of mine.
But maybe with out swearing and being abusive your could explain how 50000 people getting together to buy a club on an equal footing with one vote each, some how became right wing! I may not have your uncanny ability to know about every thing football but luckily I only get one vote hopefully the others will know much more then me. _________________ "When you don't score goals it is not easy to win."

50,000 people who don't, on the whole, give a shit about:
- the club
- it's existing fans
- the community served by the club
the novelty consists of being a club owner and playing real life club management.
For my own benefit, explain to me how you'll feel passionate about the club's history, purpose, community, governance? I assume the other 49,999 will feel equally committed to the club based on close bonds and a sense of affinity? |

Exactly. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a slanging match between two completely sober St. Pauli fans. _________________ "His first kick was a header and he missed it."

I don't want to re-ignite this one, but *somewhere* amongst the swearing and insults Mr Deacon has a point.
The concept of myfootball club seems good, but it could be a bit of a flash in the pan. Running a club isn't cheap, ask any number of self-made millionaires who have taken over a club. For it to work, it would have to be done with a huge amount of sensitivity to the club's history and tradition.
For me, a club should be form a vital part of the community it serves, and remote ownership, whether by oligarch or cyberfan, just doesn't feel right.
Anyhow, we're all St Pauli fans on here (well, most of us), I'm all for a healthy debate, but let's avoid the insults, eh? And I'm not just saying that cos Graeme (along with Zim) are our vital men on the ground in Hamburg

I think one of the many good things about is, what ever club they buy, nine asked to be bought by the way, is that the fans of that club can also all buy a share in the club!
Anyway they have agreed terms with a club now and all the present MYFC members get to vote if that will go any further.
On the MYFC forum there is a big article from one of the borad at Halifax, MYFC where involved in talks with them, anyway this guy was saying that six of the fans posted loads of negative messages about the concept etc etc.
We will have to see how it pans out, but at the moment I think it is all above board, and i have to work hard to think why it would be bad for a club who would other wise go under to enter into a deal like this.
But that is my opinion, I don't expect every one to agree, but any one else that does, maybe want to consider it.
I am looking forward to finding out who the club is now. _________________ "When you don't score goals it is not easy to win."

i think you'e being a tad too diplomatic there, shakers. i see valid points from both sides of this argument, but i think mr j deacon needs to chill out a bit and lay off with the low blows. graeme was only having a discussion, there was no need to start insulting him. and i don't find it hard to believe a german hasn't heard of FC United. deacon suggested that it was national news - correct you are deacon, NATIONAL news (not international news). i'd say there a probably plenty of footy fans around the world who've never heard of FC United, as non-league english teams are rarely a headline story in peru, etc! _________________
