|
|
This was sent to me as a link by a friend (so it's not our words!) - it's in one of my favourite areas of London, Vauxhall.
Finally the 1st ever full German pub will have it's day of glory, it's final grant opening. After opening it's doors about a month ago, the Zeitgeist at the Jolly Gardener will have it's face lift completed.
This will mean that you will now be able to taste not only a great pint of german beer, but also the taste of great german food.
The cook will be originally from Cologne in Germany and will specially move to London to get the taste just right.
49-51 Black Prince Road, SE11.
The easiest way to get to the venue is to take the 360 from Vauxhall Bus Station in the direction Elephant and Castle for 4 stops. The bus will then drop you up at the doorstep of t he Zeitgeist. |

That's just round the corner from my place of work!
The Jolly Gardener is one of the biggest cesspits I have ever had the misfortune to walk into. I wish them luck but not sure who they are aiming the pub at in that area though. Maybe the trade from the new hotels opening up on Albert Embankment? |

I've heard about the pub, but the location has kept me off so far...I find Vauxhall awful
good to hear that the bus stops right in front of the Zeitgeist, though, maybe I might give it a try _________________

I once had a 'K' reg Vauxhall Astra* which was quite reliable really!
(*which brings us back to German beer) |

i just like vauxhall as it's central and is home to the more alternative lesbian and gay scene in london,
talking of which, i am going to duckie at royal vauxhall tavern on dec 1st with a friend from cologne, so going to suggest to her we meet at this place before - i wonder if they will be showing German football or maybe i could have a word with the landlord about us? |

I was going to do that as well when I pop in next week when I am back in the office. I guess the more who ask, the more a favourable response.
What channel are the games on again? |

according to their introductory post in the German expat forum they do show footie
Might be a better address than F3K then, what with German football most certainly overriding other games? _________________

Well I put my head round the door last week and they have done a pretty good conversion job. However there was hardly anyone in there and for a Friday lunchtime that was a poor show. Noticed they claim to serve 29 German beers with most being in bottles. I didn't have a drink as I had to head back but looks a nice place. Trying to get some people from work down there so will report back another time! |
