Back in the late 70s Leeds Rugby League supporter's club bar at Headingley was reputed to serve the best pint of hand-pulled Tetley's Bitter in the known universe. I recollect that it was a damn fine beer and they always had 'top up' jugs on the bar. Very Happy

I guess real ale in big stadiums isn't a good idea because of speed of service requirements (NUFC are rumoured to sell 30,000 pints on a match day). Also any unfinished beer in the barrels will stand untouched for up to a fortnight between match days. Sterilised, carbonated, tanker delivered stuff will keep better. Also the multinationals tend to be sponsors as well and guard their deals jealously.

For many years i lived ten minutes walk away from Hayes Lane and managed to get along to a couple of games. I used to like watching Ian Dawes play .. a great player i thought.

In the mid 70's there were only two Tetley's pubs in Bury. Presumably, we were right on the catchment area boundary between brewery branches. The Three Arrows was supplied by Tetley's Warrington and the Staff Of Life by Tetley's Leeds. Though as a Lancashire lad through and through it pains me to admit it, the Yorkshire version was a far superior brew.

A very much deserved promotion to Bromley, they were the best side in Ryman Prem IMO this season.

Best of luck in Conf South

Nice to see a famous name on the rise again. Congratulations.....now if only Romford could find their own ground and win the Essex Senior.

First post...

Something of a Bromley fan myself (live two miles away in Chislehurst) so it's nice to be among friends.. Very Happy

A fantastic season just gone - and now we can manage Bromley ourselves in 08 Championship Manager. Very Happy

Having been exiled in Exeter, Swindon, Hereford (where I spent a few months as a steward in the away end) and York (with a few trips down The Crescent) I am on the verge of moving back to Bromley this week Smile

My first weekend shall be spent getting the train to Twerton Park for the Bath City v Bromley game... Angel

Will finally attempt a Hamburg trip later in the year once I have scored enough credits with my lovely wife Smile

I lived for a long time at the end of Hayes lane in a house on the common. I managed to see a few Bromley games and remember the Bromley Beer Festival that was held in Norman Park.

in the last picture of Mark DeBolla celebrating the second goal, to the left (under the "s" and "h" of the "refreshments" sign) there appears to be a black faceless shape facing away from the camera...that is I! Wink

given the conditions didn't think it was THAT bad, and to be fair Bromley played all the ffotball that was played...but at the end of the day defeat last saturday (at home to Hampton & Richmond) was the final nail in our season. still very pleased overall with the first season up, but so many "could have beens"...it's all about consistency at this level, and below par days and you get found out.

off to newport county this weekend - seeing Bromley in Europe is a first! Laughing
