I forwarded this link to an acquaintance of mine who is a Man City fan. He then posted it on the 'politics' section of the City fans' forum and was subsequently banned from said forum for "posting an inappropriate link."

I'd always had City as being fairly pro-active in tackling racism/intolerance. Firstly by the simple geographical fact that Maine Road was bang in the middle of Moss Side (even a lot of their 'hoolies' were black or mixed race). Latterly their laudable and much-publicised attempt to reach out to the Gay community.

My thoughts exactly. I worry that City's moved to the east side (an area of Manchester that is predominantly something of a 'white ghetto' -Clayton, Openshaw, Gorton, Beswick etc) has changed the demographics of their fan-base.

unfortunatly it's the ticket prices that has changed our demographic.
too many from the suburbs now acting out some wanked out false version of working class culture derived straight from Loaded/Nuts.
trouble is these twats are everywhere.
as for that racist prick, you're right quite a few of our naughty boys were/are black. One of my first experiences of direct ation was seeing a group of blues explaining to some cockney "bulldog" sellers that they did not like their paper. it makes me all nostalgic, perhaps that knob could do with a reminder of where we come from.

Gorton & Beswick has seen a big increase in immigration over the last decade, with many European & African shops & businesses opening.
Of course these areas have pillocks it comes with break down in communities unfortunatly, but as far as I know the locals welcome anyone that will invest in the area after the banks/supermarkets/breweries moved out & our council sold off the land & homes to Southern based property companies that waited for compulsary purchase.
during the last euro championships I lost count of the national flags in & around East MCR & I did not hear of any intimidation or problem with the locals......unlike Bramhall, where a German bloke had his windows put through for flying the national flag (what no media coverage?)

With you on that Dave. Even ticket prices for Bury home games are now £16 which, though it may be small by Premiership standards, still makes it prohibitive for a lot of people.
The other thing we've lost out in recent years, again mostly down to cost I'm sure, is the 'floating support' from the likes of City and Utd. For example, I once had a job where we had to work Saturday mornings. A lot of my City/Utd supporting colleagues couldn't therefore get to most away games and would, if Bury/Rochdale/Oldham etc were at home, go there instead. Alas this is almost unheard of now.

It's a shame that there seems to be abit of a change at City, I've read that there used to be a fair bit of fascist activity there, but also a fair amount of black lads and lasses. Hope you get the bastards out!

Didn't follow the link, can't bear to see a comrade fall. The right are on the rise whether we like or not. The BNP are a more acceptable face of facism than the NF ever were, the fact that the scum get elected in council elections in this country makes me sick.

The vast majority of working class communites both black and white have been abandoned by the main political parties which leaves them open to rabble like the BNP to grab a few votes and a few headlines. The thing is with them they could get 5 votes in an area and they would call it a victory and the press would be all over it giving them all the much needed publicity they desire.

There needs to be a real alternative offered to working class people who mostly vote labour out of tradition. I have heard of the IWC party but they need to make themselves more accesable and more wider reaching, not least to working class communites with large ethnic minority communities.

I have heard of City having a right wing following in the past (Francis in his autobiography of his City hooligan days even mentions it) But wasnt aware of there being any problem these days as far as I know they have a large number of black and asian fans.

Sad to see that lad killed like that. Real brave arent they fighting with knives.
