Fixtures up until the end of March are confirmed. Sunday afternoon is the usual day for second division matches. They are often moved to the Monday of the Friday, but it's very unusual for a second division game to be played on a Saturday. |

When is the St Pauli v Freiburg game day/time likely to be confirmed? Must be soon surely! I can't move on booking my visit until I know it's deffo on the Sunday April 6th. If it's on the Friday or Monday I'm donald ducked.
I'll buy the first person to post the confirmation an astra in the Eck next time I see them! _________________ 'The tragedy of humanity is not in the script; the tragedy is that there is no script'

I keep looking at Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | to see when the game is going to be played. I decided to did a bit of looking around and found out if I could find when things are going to be announced. Anyhow, I found a German site with news from last year and the remaining fixture were fixed on Tuesday 20.03.2007 just 2 and a half weeks before the games.
Based on last year I guess the big day will be Tuesday 18th March |

Hells Bells! That's close. The DFB appear to be worse than the FA on this score (and that's saying something!) Makes it impossible to plan, especially as we are going to try and and combine seeing St Pauli v Erzgebirge Aue on the Friday/Sunday, plus another game somewhere on the Saturday...
... Either Borussia Dortmund v 1. FC Nürnberg / Schalke 04 v Hannover 96 / Werder Bremen v Energie Cottbus depending how the games fall - btw anyone any idea how easy it is getting tickets for these games????
Then ***if*** things fall really kindly we could do St Pauli Friday, a 1. Liga game on the Saturday and finish things off with the SV Meppen v St Pauli II game on the Sunday (although, having just looked at Meppen's location down near the dutch border this might be a game too far).
Then again, we don't get out often, so we've got to make the most of it.
Now, if some could tell the DFB to get a move on, because a whole bunch of middle-aged blokes travel plans are hanging in the balance |

Yer, know what you mean about trying to plan things. I've booked for the Pauli v. Freiburg game and am just hoping it's not the Monday night game. At least I can watch it live on TV here in Switzerland if it's the Monday night game.
Also know what you mean about us middle aged guys. I do like the long boozy weekends watching fine Bundesliga footy, I had a VIP ticket to watch Fortuna Düsseldorf in December - that was fun! |

I finish work afternoon on Friday 4th April. I fly to southern Spain mid afternoon on Tuesday 8th April from Newcastle.
The only chance I've got of making the St Pauli v Freiburg game is if it's on the Sunday afternoon 6th April. Fly out Saturday morning from Newcastle changing at Amsterdam or Brussels, fly back Monday morning using opposite route.
Even then it's going to involve some frantic booking! I think it's going to be the last chance I have of getting to another game this season. _________________ 'The tragedy of humanity is not in the script; the tragedy is that there is no script'

Nico, a bunch of us went to Dortmund a year ago. Very easy to get tickets. If you plump for this game and are struggling, give me a shout and I'll point you in the right direction.
We managed to get on the famous Sudtribune for 10 Euros. I think there were 72,000 on but that's still 10,000 empty places! _________________ Lost your love of life? TOO MUCH APPLE PIE! |

The Dortmund game is our first choice, as we really want to stand on that terrace. Mentioned it to the guys at the Fanladen and they said not to wear our colours! (which we wouldn't of course). But this kind of ties in with what my mate told me about Schalke being the people's club?!? There is something about that Sudtribune though that is hard to resist, it just looks so huge.
So, any tips on standing tickets appreciated. Lots of companies on web selling seat tickets, but that defeats the point.
If schedules allow, it would be good to watch some other football in Hamburg (not HSV, obviously) anyone been to Altona93?
Of course, with all the football, we've got to leave a little time for a couple of drinks |

Hi Nico - yes I often try and combine St Pauli with either Altona 93 or Concordia Hamburg or SC Victoria. All fairly big teams back in the 50's-60's but now basically non-leage level. However still a great day out - good club houses and friendly people who are delighted and slightly bemused to have overseas visitors. I am hoping to get along to Altona on Good Friday in the afternoon with St Pauli the previous evening
You mentiontioned that you were going over for the Erzgebirge Aue match on the (i think) 2-4 May weekend. You should be able to do a 3 game weekend if you include a Budesliga game on the Sat. On the Friday 2/5 Concordia are at home and on the Sunday 4/5 Altona are at home so you would be able to fit one of them in. Included the web addresses below for your info. Have a good one.

Thanks for the info. Certainly looks promising for a 3 game weekend.
Can't wait for that final batch of fixtures to be confirmed... |

Must agree with what Edinburgh has mentioned, Altona 93, Cordi & Victoria are all cracking real old school grounds and well well worth visiting. plenty of old fashioned terracing abounds at all three !
Altona & Victoria are within 5-10 mins of nearest S-bahn and Cordi is around 20 min walk away.
Enjoy whichever you do.. _________________ He didn't go round nowhere, i just sent him round ! |

Sorry I've not responded. I was there on a stag weekend so I think I got about 25 tickets. I just emailed the club. Because we bought in bulk I think this made getting standing tickets easier.
What I would say is that even though they had an English language facility on their ticket office website/email, they kept responding with increasingly long and complicated emails in German. Despite my attempts in very poor German to tell them that my German was, well, very poor. Obviously I was liaising with a German football club and I'm not so arrogant as to expect conversations in English. It was just odd that they had a contact page that enabled you to send a message in English to them.
Despite the fact that my German skills were extremely weak, I ended up striking up an unexpected friendship with a Daniel Kristler (in German) and eventually ended up recommending a footy weekend in the North-West (in German) after he asked about the Premier League. Thank God for my wife's GCSE Collins Gem German Dictionary, my self-teach German course and various translation sites. It was most odd. Especially when I sneakily got him to reply to one email in English, only for my English reply to be met with a German one!
Anyway, to get to the point, here's his email:

Altona's a must. Of the 600+ grounds I've been to it'd make it into the top 10 for sure.
Schalke isn't so easy to get tickets as they sell out for almost every game. _________________ Last new ground (#749) Selhurst Street
