BTW welcome to the board.

Thanks it's nice to be here. Do you manage to go to any Newcastle games? Living in Hamburg I haven't been to a Sunderland game in 3 years. I have to say It's one of the things I really miss about England. That and my mates! Boo hoo! Apart from that I couldn't be happier in Hamburg. As much as possible I try and watch as many games as possible online but my eyes hurt from watching online in that tiny little screen!

As for the Newcastle Sunderland game I am just hoping we're both well safe by then (which I'm sure we will be) then it's all about who finishes above who and that's just amazing.
Very Happy

I've had a seson ticket at SJP since the days of Ossie Ardiles and been going to see them since a 1-1 draw with Stoke City in 1967 - I was VERY young! I go to Blyth Spartans and local Northern League matches when I can.
I think both teams are safe now and it's about bragging rights. You lot are due a win on the law of averages as you've not had a win for 8 games (5 wins and 3 draws to us). However a win for the R&W would make my life hell in school on Monday so I'd settle for a draw at this moment!
@Jack, Most people of my mellow age and temperament on both sides of the divide resort to (mostly) good natured banter. Some don't unfortunately and some sub-30 yr olds and younger hate each other with a surprising and sad viciousness. By and large we get on, both clubs have a similar mining/ship building heritage amongst their support, staggering underachievement and there's a grudging respect and rivalry about the passion of their fans.
Except on Sunday when it's WAR!!!!!! Wink

The real NE derby.

2-0. Fucking sweet.

We were piss poor today and still outclassed them. We took our foot of the gas in the second half and they just looked clueless going forward in response. They were the worst team seen at SJP this season. A hugely disappointing team of barely Championship standard players & I actually feel sorry for their fans, they deserve better.
Best chant of the afternoon (to the 'Go West' tune) - ' 4-1 and even Chopra scored, 4-1 and even Chopra scored...'
