Last night I was at SJP for the Northumberland Senior Cup final between NUFC Reserves and Blyth Spartans along with just over 2000 others. It was a perfect night for football, clear, cool and still. There were a few hundred raucous Green and White fans who kept up singing and chanting throughout but most, like me, were 'supporters' of both and just wanting to see a good game of football. The professionals were the most accomplished footballers but Blyth were tenacious and determined. There were few chances and the game rather predictably went into extra time at 0-0. In the first period Blyth went ahead when a cross headed back into the centre was bundled home from close range. The lead lasted barely a minute when Kazenga LuaLua hit an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner from the left of the 18yd box. That was it in terms of chances. Penalties went NUFC's way 4-3 and the Toon had silverware.
Good value for a £5 including programme. However due to the feckin' Metro it was after 11 when I got home!
