we might.... MIGHT, just pull this one off!
still unlikely but, what a kick in the arse a 'NO VOTE' would be to the ruling class establishment.....
and how our reputation would rise in the eyes of the disenfranchised european working classes who are not being allowed a say on this neo-liberal right wing contract with the devil!
VOTE NO - LISBON TREATY REFERENDUM - 12/06/2008

maybe, just maybe..... a different world IS possible!

Keep the Cava on ice Dmitri. The EU are capable of a Mugabe style electioneering. They will not let the will of the people divert them from their cause.
Even if they* cannot hide a 'No' vote they will push this through eventually.
They = the self serving political elite and their paymasters from big business. _________________ freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice... Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality |

It would be quite ironic if the Irish of all people while given the chance of rejecting "unionism" and embracing the notion of "home rule" choose to do the opposite to what their ancesters did.
A bit like electing Ian Paisley to the office of Taoiseach... |

Perhaps the Irish people who have had to fight more than most to control their own destiny don't want to hand that control to others.
It doesnt matter what the vote is anyway. The EU already has it's plan for the treaty through the back door;
"the French minister for European affairs, Jean-Pierre Jouyet, told LCI television that if the Irish have voted no on the treaty, 'the ratification process (must) continue in other countries.'
In addition, Jouyet said that a 'legal arrangement' between Ireland and the 26 other EU member nations must then be agreed. "
Democracy in action? Its enough to make you sick. _________________ freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice... Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality |

Dear friends,
Working women and men, young people of Ireland
The dominant forces of European Union, the governments, the representatives of the big business, have pursued to keep the direction and real purpose of the Lisbon Treaty well hidden from the peoples of Europe, until after the Irish people have voted. In our country, as well as in the all other countries of the EU, they refuse any public debate and deny the people any say on the Treaty, despite the fact that it will have harsh consequences on their labor, social, democratic and civil rights.
The new European Union Treaty, which was signed by the Heads of State and Government of the EU countries in Lisbon in December 2007, is nothing more than a new version of the so-called “Constitutional Treaty” that was rejected by the peoples.
Your country’s Constitutional requirement that the Lisbon Treaty should be presented to Irish voters in a referendum places Ireland in a unique position.
We are asking you, the Irish people, to use this opportunity and speak for all people of Europe who have been silenced. Cast “NO” vote on behalf of all of us, on behalf of the hundreds of millions of workers that have been denied a referendum!
A victory of the “No” vote will represent a major victory for all the workers and the peoples of the European Union countries; will send a message of optimism to all people across the world!
