Perhaps St. Pauli have appointed B.P. in order to weed out those of us that they deem undesirable and who don't meet a required standard. Kowalski and I were chatting and as he rightly pointed out, this has all sprung from some-one's post regarding his club, why he's here, and the efforts he was making to confront bigotry. _________________ Can you still have any famous last words if you're somebody nobody knows?

Perhaps you was appointed to chat waffle when everything had been brought to a natural concusion, with neither sides conceding and spleens vented. _________________ Celtic & St Pauli - The Rebels choice |

For which he should be welcomed and applauded. Hopefully this thread won't put him - or any of the rest of you - off coming to Brum for yet another riotous and rip-roaringly successful St Pauli benefit gig this year. You know you want to. |

I just think that the guy's thread got hijacked and that he got little support for a good cause - though I'm sure he can deal with that himself if he's bothered. As for being put off coming to Birmingham - 2 weeks in the summer might be pushing it a bit but there doesn't seem much going on there that hasn't gone on in other cities at some point so looking forward to it! _________________ Can you still have any famous last words if you're somebody nobody knows?

Well I did start this thread so I guess it is time to finish it.
It's been interesting reading but one thing is for sure we all support St Pauli, although some in different ways, and for different reasons perhaps.
Thanks for all the support I did get. As for the ones that are a bit suspicious of a Hearts/St Pauli fan, well it's ok with me, I dont have a problem with this. You have a right to your opinion and I respect this, but I will not be put of my own campaign. True Hearts Against Bigotry.
As for the anti Irish feeling in Birmingham, I'm sorry but I cant comment on this, simply because I dont have any Birmingham experience. But one thing is certain, I cant wait until the St Pauli benifit gig later this year. Put me down for a ticket. All the best lads.

I wish you good luck with it and I mean it. Honest - and I hope this does not come across as wanting to piss antifascist activists in antifascist surroundings off - it is not that difficult to be an antifascist when you are with St. Pauli. It is expected of you.
So all people that try to stand up for the good cause when the majority around them don't, deserve our respect. We at St. Pauli are spoilt when it comes to that. But as I said: it is easy at the Millerntor. _________________

The nicest way to behave as a brave antifascist is, when there are no fascists around. And it is an interesting fact that some shop selling t-shirts and other clothes with neonazibackground has being established in this quarter nearly one year ago. There were some demonstrations - one on after a match, but not even 2,000 person were seen there, whilst 15,000 were in the stadium before. And now, things have settled down, nothing happens. St. Pauli - myth and truth.
With guys like brido05, who raise their voice against this bullshit even if most people simply do not care, this would have never happened. So, good luck, boy!
I know one St.Pauli-Fan in Hamburg, who supports the Hearts. |

one more thing: I am of course aware that even with St. Pauli a lefty attitude must not be taken for granted
After all, our overall reputation is not a result of a UFO landing next to the Millerntor, delivering antifascism to us. Just had to make that clear. _________________

Thanks for the good luck message. But it's determination and perseverance that's mostly required.
I take it you are a follower of the fortunes of a team that play at darkdeid.
aah, don't you just love jovial football banter. |

Best of luck Brido. Having been a Hearts supporter for the last twenty five years I think I'm pretty well qualified to say that the vast majority of the Hearts support are anti sectarian and anti racist.
Unfortunately it just needs a vocal minority to bring shame to the club. This applies to all the top Scottish clubs. |

Jambokam. I think it's fair to say that the vast majority of the Hearts support are not actively sectarian or racist. I think if, as you say, the vast majority of the were anti sectarian and anti racist, then there wouldn't be such a pressing need for Brido's THAB campaign.
I'm a Celtic fan and have pulled up other Celtic fans in the past for racially abusing players. Yes, you are correct in saying that the problem applies to all the major clubs, and anyone who tries to tell you there are none at Celtic Park is in some kind of denial. As has been pointed out earlier in this thread, it's easy to confront fascists with a big gang of mates behind you, and while I was not in that situation, I felt safe to do that as I was confident that any aggression towards me on the part of the retard in question would result in me getting backing from those around me in the crowd. I would not be so confident of doing the same thing while sitting amongst the Hearts support.
Hopefully Brido's campaign will gather momentum and the decent Hearts fans who are ashamed by the actions of the knuckle draggers will realise that they are not alone, and that they can stand up to that kind of behaviour. |
