Good places to start are the Briar Rose (a Weatherspoon's Lodge above one of their city centre boozers) and the array of IBIS and ETAPs in the city centre. No boutique hotels here, thank you very much
The Chaimberlain also run two quite cheapish hotels - the one on Alcester Street is close to the venue
For the bargain bucket end of the market, there's a Formule 1 by St Andrews (again, not far from the venue) at around £25 a night and the Birmingham Backpackers hostel.
Let us know if you'd like more info! _________________ Martin Taylor is Innocent |

Good to see the Birmingham boys in brown getting a mention on the back of Viva St Pauli (the stadium magazine) for the Oberhausen game.
It says there were 200 fans from all over the world there last year, and they made around 3500 Euros for St Pauli. Keep up the good work. _________________ Der Junge von St. Pauli der hat die Welt geseh'n

Birmingham Central Backpackers is very cheap.
Formula One hotel is cheapest 'proper' hotel. |

What's the score with the tickets? I see you can buy them from the Barfly website now. Are we better getting them direct fron the BBIB? |

You are mate. You can buy them from the Barfly (and a couple of online ticket agencies as it's considered a 'proper' venue) but you'll have to pay the normal ridiculous handling fee and p&p.
Just pm me how many tickets you'd like and i'll get them to you! _________________ Martin Taylor is Innocent |

and I'm afraid I haven't got an update on the aftershow thing yet. Still waiting for confirmation from a boozer in Digbeth. At the very least we'll all stay in the Barfly or go on a pub crawl round Digbeth!
Hope you can make it _________________ Martin Taylor is Innocent |

I've stayed in the Britania a few times. Not the best hotel, but great location, and unless it's busy it's normally cheap. Worth a look anyway |

Howdo chaps
I'm the one who looks after and updates the Birmingham Boys in Brown website - Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | - and sorry if you can't always get access. It's a free site so we only have limited bandwidth and it easily gets overloaded if there's too much interest (which isn't normally a problem!) but lately with news of the gig it's getting quite a few hits.
If you can't get on just leave it half an hour or so and it will reset
Ticket and gig info and all the latest news and results from St Pauli, Aston Villa and Birmingham City.
Cheers all

Disgracefully, we haven't been able to find anywhere that shows German TV. Can anyone say what Channel they normally watch games on - Premier for instance? Is this widely available in pubs with satellite TV? _________________ Martin Taylor is Innocent |

Premiere, but it's pay tv so you would need a decoder and a "smartcard". Ask Blitzkrieg Bob, I think he knows more about that. There are internet services as well, but quality is low and if it's worth the technical difficulties...
the AFM radio stream on the internet is in German only, otherwise that'd be a good alternative.
PS: I could ask one of the Basis guys if they could do the live ticker on the web in English as well that weekend ;) _________________ Irish Folk&Rebel from St.Pauli:
