Hi comrades.

First of all, I'm really glad I'm found this place. St Pauli are a club that have been in my conscience for a number of years now due to its politics and right on approach to the world. With football becoming an increasing slave to the big businesses it is good to identify with a club like FC St Pauli.

I was born in Glasgow to a Celtic supporting family but grew up in Coventry, hence my support for the latter. I have a season ticket and go to all the away games, despite Coventry City FC being the most underachieving and underwhelming team in England.

To be associated with Celtic in my opinion means that you are intrinsically linked with its politics, with the political struggle against the Thatcher reigime aimed to suppress Irishness for the thousands affected by the diaspora. A protest against war criminal John Reid was a highlight of one of my (albeit not regular) trips to Parkhead.

Due to Celtic I have known about St Pauli for a number of years. I also love Germany as a country, and am always impressed when I see St Pauli t-shirts at festivals.

I hope to attend a St Pauli game before the year is out, and I look forward to talking at length about two of my favourite things: football and politics.

Welcome aboard!

Always had a bit of a soft spot for Cov (must be that chocolate brown away shirt!) I play five-a-side at Sports Connexion in Cov (well Ryton) every Wednesday ( I live bloody miles away, but it is a central meeting point for our team!) - if you are ever around and see a St Pauli shirt, say hi!

I play there on a Monday night! I'll try and get down on a Wednesday with my St Pauli shirt. I have the City chocolate brown away shirt* - a classic!

* Not the original, sadly.

Small world! We've been playing there for 8 years now. We used to play on a Thursday night, but moved to a Wednesday (as a one of our team is a teacher and he *always* had parents evenings on a Thursday - least that was his excuse)

Look for us on the league tables, we are called 'Spleen Team' (crap name, and a long and pretty boring story). I think we are still in Division 2 for the new season though we should've been relegated as we only won one game Embarassed

What's the psycho rating on a Monday night? Thursdays was full of nutters but Wednesdays is okay!! We are all over 30 now, and feeling our age...

We play in green but I'm usually in a St Pauli top of some kind after the game...

Cheers

Nick

Monday night is psycho-tastic. My team went from Division 5 to Division 1 but as I have long-ish hair and a bit of skill I seem to get targeted. In three years I have broken three toes, damaged knee ligaments, and worst of all, suffered a collapsed lung and broken ribs after being elbowed. We are all in our mid-20s but the competitive element is sometimes frightening. I love it though.

It is frighteningly competitive isn't it? But I love that too. Long hair and skill? 1. You're lucky 2.You are asking for a kicking Wink

I don't mind a good 50-50 challenge, it's all the off-the-ball stuff, the taking you out when you are clean through on goal, squaring-up and the offers of taking it to the car park I can't stand!

Are free-kicks at the Connexion the most pointless thing ever? Hacked down a yard from the area? Free-kick with some meathead standing two steps away? And don't get me started on the inconsistancy of the over-head rule!!!

I'll PM my mobile/email if you ever fancy a run out on a Weds. We've actually got 7 for this week, but most weeks we only have 4 or 5.

PS Have you ever played in the 'nets' over by the netballers? That really is Murderball!

Oh, I hate the nets with a passion. You actually have to run playing there! I am asking for a kicking. Thanks for the offer about Wednesdays, I always like a game of football. The off the ball 'sledging' can be quite fun but usually our witty comments are met with a kick or a shove. Still, it's all fun. Our team is called FC Rejects, and we are currently in Division 2 (just like St Pauli) of the Monday league.

Exactly!!! I always try and have a bit of a laugh, trying to take the piss in a subtle way. It is almost always met with: " F%ck off, you F@cking, C*nt" or similar, or the offer of a scrap (which we always politely decline!)

I hope I've never kicked you - it wouldn't do to foul a fellow St Pauli fan!
