Regarding Bundesliga Zwei, I am right in thinking that it's the bottom two down with third bottom in a playoff against third top in the lower league - and the same at the top? Something one of 'the groundhoppers' said to me at work today made me think twice.

You're right Les. If you look at the league table on the attached link and press the red and white arrow it expands the table and the third top and third bottom have 'play-off' next to their name. I believe there's then a two legged play-off to decide if it's to be a promotion/relegation or more of the same for the two teams competing.

The Kicker website seemed to be saying this although what was written was confusing. I must admit that my Deutsch isn't too hot though!

I'm not sure I like the idea that a team finishing third bottom in the Bundesliga get a second chance to save their skins. You could argue that our play-offs are less fair I suppose, but having gained and lost with Bolton under this format I would still prefer it to be teams from the same league battling to win promotion.

I think the playoff isn't a bad idea as it adds an exciting element to the end of the season, but I think #17 should have to playoff with 3,4 and 5 in the Zweite. Same for the 3rd/2nd.
