Another tough game, given that 1860 managed to win 3-0 on Friday in Frankfurt, and Oberhausen also got 3 points off Augsburg. Looks like Trojan won't be playing, either, as he's picked up a groin injury, which after all he's been through in recent weeks would seem to indicate he needs a pause. And of course Morena is out for the rest of the year.

On the plus side, Ebbers is fit and probably gagging to have a go at his ex-club. Looks like Hoilett might be on from the start, too. So it may be a 4-2-3-1, with Boll and Schultz in defensive midfield, Bruns, Hoilett and Ludwig in front of them, and Ebbers up front.

Or maybe Stani will surprise us again...

3-2. A good game and 3 very valuable points. Ludwig was good and the whole midfield worked hard and competed for every ball. Not sure about their penalty. Hain went for the ball which he was allowed to IMHO but there you go. The sending off looked very dubious at first but replays suggested that he went over the top of the ball with his studs showing. Red card.

Can I just say that if I make it, we lose, and if I don't, we win.

In mitigation, I got on the train at Brentford, only to discover that it was terminating at Kew Bridge. And I couldn't face the "rail replacement service" all the way to Vauxhall.

Should I come next week?

Great win, and a lively game. Hain is proving to be an excellent signing, and his 2 late saves won the game for St Pauli.

Sad news about Fabio Morena, who is suffering from meningitis, and will be out for some time.

I managed to watch most of this on Bwin (the kids were watching a film on the telly, but even came and watched a bit with me when I started to shout at the computer!!!)

Really enjoyed the game. Ebbers first goal was a beauty, the goals either side of half-time shoock Aachen - even so I would still have bet on it finishing 3-3. Never a penalty. And, as he gave it, he should've given a similar one up the other end when one of our players got tangled up with the keeper. Hain made great reflex stop from a diving header. Bwin coverage cut just as the celebrations were warming up!!!

The support was fantastic - no-stop singing throughout the second-half.

Over to you Zim..

won't say anything about the match as Zim will do that better anyway ;)

Maybe one quote from the German forum: "Oberhausen and 1860 were victims, Aachen was an opponent".

While the match was quite good and its finish thrilling, the weather was (almost) worst "Hamburger Wetter". But a hot bath and some good Rum helped a lot Cool

You're not kidding! That was the finest "Hamburger Wetter" I can remember for a long time. Hopefully my stuff will have dried out by tomorrow. Definitely a hot bath evening, mmmhhh - but I find Apfelkorn does the trick better than rum as far as warming up goes.

As to the game, I'll try to put a match report in tomorrow evening, but in advance a) it was a penalty, b) the red card was too harsh and c) we deserved the win. Very Happy

1st time to see St Pauli play live on TV,I had just time to drop my ass on the Sofa and it was back up again after the first goal went in.1 minute 52 seconds on the clock.

Enjoyed the game and look forward to more of the same.

Question,we just installed a Sat Dish and are receiving a Premier station from Germany that show all the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 games.Does anybody else have this and do they pay for it?

Regards
Bear42

Highlights

Thanks for the link.

Looks like some really terrible marking on the last save in the highlights.

Salveggio thanks for the link. Great highlights.

Ebbers' first goal was awesome. It didn't look like a foul to cause a penalty shot. I don't understand German but in the highlights, it didn't even look like Hain even hit him less alone touch him. Just good acting. As we say here in the US, "Give him the Oscar.". It looked like everyone played great.
