My two pence worth,
I'm all for it any opportunity to show Germans there is a strong following for St Pauli outside of Germany.
It's not about bragging but showing that this team is unique and so are it's supporters. _________________ Sophie & Hans Scholl,Christian Probst

I'm just a fan from the US but this could be a good thing.
It all depends on how he plans to portray you guys in his article. If it is just about English football fans turning to the Bundesliga due to the commercialisation of the Premiere League, then no to the story. That's not why you guys became fans.
Now if it is about the fans of ST Pauli and why they are fans, then yes. You can get the point across of how different the team is and their fans. There are many reasons why people follow ST Pauli not because it happens to be their home town team like in other leagues. |

It'll turn out like some late night, after pub, 10 minute slot on one of these global roundup footie prorammes about some wacky english guys who go to watch east fife (sorry St pauli fifer, but I couldn't spell arbraoth)

one obvious good thing to come from all this publicity - we met a few guys in the zeitgeist yesterday (st pauli fans) who had only heard about the chance to watch the games in London via the recent publicity in that Berlin newspaper. |

Can I just apologise yet again for the fact that if I turn up, Zeigeist or Millerntor, we lose (or draw at best)
I've literally yet to see St Pauli win "live".
Serious stuff about gigs. My ex-partner (St Pauli too, and a fluent German speaker) and me, along with others, have put on gigs at Brentford for years: Only registered users can see links on this forum! I think Brownstock is great, I will be there, but there's no reason we can't do it in London too. We have a venue, in Brentford. |

With regard to the comments on the German football fans knowledge of St Pauli's appeal abroad, the only one of my German friends who was aware of the massive level of interest in the club worldwide is not a football fan, but an anti-racism campaigner!
Sorry if i've missed this, but what sort of media piece is it? I was under the impression the OP was on about a sports newspaper piece but others on this thread seem to suggest its going to be a film?
Anyway i'm out as although you see a fair few shirts in Leeds (often on foreign students from all over Europe) there doesn't seem to be any bars showing games or folk meeting up. |

Hi, we would like to do a 10 minute film (not an article) about St. Pauli-Fans in the UK for an independent sport magazine for the TV-Staion WDR (compare to the BBC in the UK). Maybe I repeat myself but we would like to report what makes St. Pauli so special (antifa, music, lively etc.) to the rest of the football-world. We like to show how you think about St.Pauli and would like to accompany some St. Pauli-Fans on their way to watch a match at the Millerntor. We have a "Yes" from the official side of St. Pauli itself and Sven Brux is trying to help us. So please feel free to contact us in the forum or please mail to the following address: Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | .
Kind regards

What is the name of WDR's independent sport magazine?
Hope it doesn't have anything to do with Arnd Zeigler. _________________ keep Everton in our city!

The name of the magazin ist typical german: SPORT INSIDE and we have nothing to do at all with "Die wunderbare Welt des Fußballs" from Zeigler. So you can find more about sport inside when you click the WDR-Website and search for sport inside. |

Out of curiosity, has anyone got back to Berliner yet?
Despite my years "treading the boards" (a trained actor reduced to the status of a bum) I, for one, am in no great hurry to take up his offer - my trips to Hamburg are scary enough as it is: flying, alcohol-abuse, the Puffa-jacketed ones outside Burger King!!!
Perhaps there are others, less angst-ridden, who fancy appearing on German television for 10 minutes? (The Ost-Schottland-Broons, veilleicht?)

I doubt if they'd be interested in filming my pre-match activities. I don't drink alcohol before games, so tend to leave my hotel about 45 minutes before the game, and walk slowly to the ground! Not a great spectator sport.
I make up for it after the games though, and the atmosphere after the Wiesbaden game a few weeks ago was amazing. My highlight was 20 minutes banter with a passionate HSV fan, the barmaid at the Steirer Stüberl in Davidstraße. She told one cutomer to piss off to the other side of the Reeperbahn where the St Pauli slugs live, if she didn't like HSV. _________________ Der Junge von St. Pauli der hat die Welt geseh'n

The thing here is that St. Pauli are very different from any other club, which is why we like them from all over. But...
If the original request was about "English fans turning to the Bundesliga" (i.e. 1. Bundesliga), then I'm afraid i think it's wrong anyway.
I wish they did for some of the reasons we know - standing areas, lower prices, much better atmosphere (not sure international fans realise this last bit) etc., but having tried and failed to get Premiership tickets even at extortionate prices for visiting foreign friends (what's wrong with a Brighton game, eh??), it seems obvious that most English fans are rather turning to supporting one of the big boring top four in the Premiership. I don't have the sense that most people "in the street" know anything about the Bundesliga.
Or St.Pauli really. But those of us who do know about them realise they are unique, even for Germany, so it would be interesting to see if the final piece was suggesting enthusiam for St. Pauli or German footy as a whole... |
