|
|
Hello guys, my name is Chris and I am a studying journalist at University College Falmouth.
I recently read a world soccer magazine article on Hamburg as a soccer city and became fascinated by your club and decided to do some research, hence how I found this site. I am also looking into attending a game or two by the end of the season.
I also saw this as an excellent opportunity to produce an article on you guys, the St Pauli fans based in the UK. I would be hugely grateful for some information about yourselves and how you operate as fans, and I would be looking to produce an article as a result.
So if any of you would like to feature in the article or assist in any way, reply to this message or send me a pm, and I will be in touch with a few questions.
Many, many thanks in advance.
Chris Matthews. |

I would suggest that you give some details about which publication the article is for, and an outline of what the article will be. Most folk on here are wary of journos. |

I am writing for my assessmant, not for any publications. I want to write on this subject for my love of football, I am not going to give anybody bad press or anything like that. The only way this article will be published if is a send it off, if you guys don't want it published then not a problem.
Will be writing on how and why you support
the team, as long as a brief history of the club.
Just asking for your help, no problems if you don't want to be involved however. |

Hi Chris.
Have you checked out the 'Your Club' section of this forum? There's a lot to trawl through, but you should certainly find some individual stories as to why and how we arrived at St Pauli. Hope that helps.
Cheers. _________________ Lost your love of life? TOO MUCH APPLE PIE! |

Thankyou very much, that certainly is a lot of help and a good foundation to get me sorted. Is there any chance you or anybody else could aid me with a few direct quotes?
Many thanks. |

What do you mean by direct quotes? I could tell you how I personally got into Pauli. _________________ We managed to score against Trinidad and Tobago. One better than Sweden. |

This board has a section about how people found St Pauli, it's mainly about the Celtic connection, but might be usefull.
I would have thought most of what you're looking for is on here or other sites, but if you're struggling with something specific, put up a couple of questions and see what kind of response you get. |

A final question... a little more specific!
How do German St Pauli fans receive their continentaly companions? |

not happy about all those glory hunters at all. but if they get through a complex and dangerous initiation ceremony then they stand a chance to be tolerated. _________________ Irish Folk&Rebel from St.Pauli:

Dear Chris,
why dont you post something about yourself, the teams you follow, any political leanings and what writtings you have done on football culture already.
it may bring a better response.
just a suggestion
ps
if you are a member of the local conservative party or UKIP etc best keep that one to yourself |

Blimey, I wish there was a more positive response here when someone shows an interest in us. What's with all the caginess and defensiveness ?
Anyway, Chris, feel free to contact me via PM or email. |

Ok guys, I'm 20 years old and have done a few bits on terrace culture already, but as I'm a second year student these have been internal peices, none of which published. I have wrote about local football mainly, and a few peices about hooliganism, mainly in Poland as I have a Polish friend who has a few friends in high places.
By poltical stance I am liberal minded and despise fascism and agree with the beliefs of the St Pauli supporters.
As for football teams, I am a fan of Plymouth Argyle, who I watch regularly. I also follow Slask Wroclaw of Poland and now St Pauli!
As i have said before I am just asking for help, no work will be published so you don't have to worry! |
