Apparently Michael Sheen is playing Brian Clough in the film version of 'The Damned Utd'.
Don't know any of the other actors involved. Geri Halliwell as Billy Bremner perhaps?

The 'Dynamo' book has interested me for a while even though I haven't read it. Is that the one which describes the games against the German army teams during the Nazi occupation? Lose or die basically. I might buy it for the description of that episode alone.

That's the one - it starts with the wedding of one of the players on the eve of Operation Barbarossa. Subtitled 'Defending the Honour of Kiev', it's a fantastic and moving story. Amazon have a second hand copy for 89p if you're interested!

Best football book ever written!!! It's that good.

Andy Dougan is the author......you must read this.

I had Robson Green pencilled in as Norman Hunter. And Mo Sizlack from the Simpsons as Paul Reaney. What about BB as Mickey Droy at Chelsea?

Or Brian Kilcline. If they were to make a film of Coventry's 1986 FA Cup win!

At the moment I'm reading through some academic football literature. If the Premiership's link with the wider phenomenom of post-Fordism turns you on, try to find a copy of The End of The Terraces by Anthony King of Exeter University. Looks a lot at fan culture, particuarly fanzines, especially MUFC zines, as well as the big business side of things.

"The Miracle of Castel di Sangro" is a similar idea though in this case the journo in questions spent a season hanging out with the players of a wee local team promoted to Serie B for the first time ever - of course their only aim is avoiding relegation. I quite enjoyed it though there's very little about left/right politics but plenty about dodgy chairman type politics.

enjoyed the book at lot but the americanisms were annoying!! would love to know how much was true cos a lot did seem rather soapoperaish!

I've just received a copy of 'How Football Explains The World' by Franklin Foer. Any of you lot read it? On skimming through the chapter on sectarianism in Glasgow looks interesting. I notice a few of the books recommended on this board are referenced - some of which I've read, 'Morbo' Brilliant Orange' 'Football against the Enemy' and 'Futebol - the Brazilian way' to name a few. I'm looking forward to reading it.

I read a good book a few years ago with a title something along the lines of 'Ingerland' or 'the Ingerland factor', I forget which but it was a collection of short pieces on British fan culture and how the rest of the world sees it, iirc.

Keep trying to find it on Amazon or suchlike, if anyone knows what I'm talking about please correct me!
