on match days (assuming there's one in print). There's no online option to buy. Do you get to any games? |

No mate, I'm a Celtic supporter but have an interest in what is happening at FC. I used to get updates by reading United We Stand but now they have decided to pull any FC articles.
I had checked online before but couldn't see anywhere where I could buy it. I am hoping to get to a game later on in the year so hopefully pick up one then. |

best place for updates is the official FC site and the un-official fan's forum. UTB is more about features than a running commentary on the club |

Commiserations on today's result.
For FC reading, I'd also recommend the regular blog about FC Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | which will keep you up to date for free.
According to my last copy of UTB you can actually order old back issues by sending a cheque (made out to "Under the Boardwalk") for the full cost of the zines plus 50p p&p per issue ordered to Table 7, The Koffee Pot, 21 Hilton Street, Manchester M1. Oh and state which ones you want.
Issues 1-3, 5, 7, 8, 10 -12 and 15 are all a quid. The rest (apart from Issue 13 which doesnt exist) are £2.
I assume, but can't guarantee, that the address is still going. It was earlier this year so it should be ok.
Didnt the TAL fanzine do an article on FC United? Don't suppose you've got a copy of that to scan have you?
Oh finally if you want to see any of our football then you can watch at Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
Hope to see you at a match some time. _________________ Geschunden durch den (Hamburg) Sport Verein....Samstag ist Selbsmord |

Thanks for the address; I'll drop them a line this week.
Gutted with today's result; terrible performance by Celtic.
TAL fanzine did indeed do an article on FC a few months ago after the TAL team went down for a match. I'm not able to scan it myself but I will ask someone to do it. You can also buy the magazine for £2 at Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |

If its available to buy, I'll purchase it. People have put the effort in, so quite happy to pay for that.
Cheers all the same _________________ Geschunden durch den (Hamburg) Sport Verein....Samstag ist Selbsmord |

As I've written elsewhere, I'm a Mansfield Town fan but as I live in Leeds I spend alot of time watching local non-league. After Stags 3-0 v Salisbury, I took a couple of Ipswich/St Pauli lads to Guiseley v FCUM on Sunday to cheer them up after a 1-0 defeat at Donny. I always enjoy matches at Nethermoor (especially easy access to great Pie and peas!) and I thought the match was actually better quality than either Stags or Ipswich that weekend. Nevertheless segregation to stop me getting to the clubhouse and avoiding the Leeds/Man U idiots fighting on the main road before the match was a new experience. I thought the FCUM fans were generally fantastic with great songs and a great attitude but I could see how the longstanding Guiseley fans were a bit frustrated that even a definitely alternative but well supported club like FCUM nevertheless meant that the worst elements of football arrived in their midst. I actually felt compelled to join with the Guiseley lads in getting their name heard amidst the posturing and chants of 'scum' of the Leeds 'boys' and the constant references to 'Elland Road closing down' from the FCUM crowd. Not an atttack on FCUM but just an observation from someone who has only ever had sympathy from afar for AFC Wimbledon and FC United. |

I couldnt make it but by all accounts the game was a cracker. I can't comment on the fighting as I wasnt there, but in general we do have a problem particular in areas around Leeds and Stoke in hooligans from clubs unrelated to those we are playing turning up for a fight (the game was on a Sunday just because Leeds had a home game on the Saturday - a quite frankly ludicrous situation to have to worry about for a non-league club). This attention has generally been unprovoked (at worst complaints about us tend to just be around being too loud, drunk, too many or seemingly just happening to be a bit working class - just as well Im typing rather than talking so can hide my own slightly plummier accent ). Attention from firms is also unwelcome as any match with rumours around it involving potential violence, tends to have a lower gate as, then the large number of parents with kids fans won't want to turn up. I also don't enjoy dodging bottles like we had to at the game a few seasons back in Newcastle under Lyme.
As for the songs, the Elland Road bit is part of a much larger song, which whilst also making disparaging remarks about other areas of the country/other clubs, also mixes old United verses with new FC ones e.g. Margy's van is full of veg (due to our managers other job). Its sung because of where most FCUM fans have come from i.e. still being Manchester United supporters. Its not very Guiseley relevant admittedly, but I guess it wasnt meant to be so. I for one wouldnt stop singing such songs, because I like it, football songs at any club are very hard to justify/rationalise and whilst I draw the line at songs I feel myself are offensive, Im happy to join in the whole range of songs FCUM, MUFC or local vicinity related, as long as when the final whistle goes, everyone can get off home quietly or mix in the pubs. This is far more often than not the case, sadly though this didnt extend to Sunday.
Anyway Im glad you enjoyed the match and cheers for the post. Good, bad, ugly or average its always good to hear what neutrals think about FC! _________________ Geschunden durch den (Hamburg) Sport Verein....Samstag ist Selbsmord |

I am currently reading "Undivided Glow", a book about the formation of FC and it's first season. Absolute cracker of a read and highly recommended to any with an interest in this unique club. |
