I've been to a few places in Britain.

The Underworld (London)
Mean Fiddler (London)
Astoria (London)
The Cavern (Exeter)
Concorde (Brighton)
Music Box (?) (Manchester)
King Tuts (Glasgow)
Birmingham Academy 2 (Birmingham)
Essential festival (Somewhere in the woods in Bristol...)

I travelled to all these places to see Sick Of It All, if anyone knows them. I spend a lot of money and time on going to see shows, and I like to travel to new places to do so. Last year I went to Hamburg for the first time to see the Kings Of Nuthin' and a bunch of other psychobilly bands at Knust. Great place and great show. good times

Why does Knust ring a bell with me - end of season party? Der Koenig den Lowen? Wink

You might be there again sooner than you think!!

PS: "The Underworld" is just around the corner from me.

Two thirds of this board's confirmed Frank Sidebottom afficionados (Myself and Pat O'Banton. Good to meet you Pat, we'll sort out another beer soon Very Happy ) took in the Bard of Timperley's first Manchester Show in 6 years on Thursday.

As Frank would (often) say. Fantastic! Despite the fact that 99% of his material hasn't changed since 1989 it was still great. But let's face it, if Frank wasn't stuck in an 80s timewarp he wouldn't be as funny as he still is. Good to see Little Frank (of course) but sadly no Breville Toaster. His replacement seems to be an iron with big googly eyes but suspiciosly with the same voice as Breville Think

He's probably an acquired taste and up close the papier mache head is somewhat sinister. But therein lies the charm!

Last night I went to:

IJ Studios
Gordon Industrial Building, #06-18
Eunos Avenue 3
Paya Lebar
Singapore

The bands playing were:

    Secret Seven
    Flesh Disgorged
    Pazahora
    Blinded Humanity
    Elergy For Euliza
    Voces Innocentes
    Shak Tii

It was a mixture of hardcore punk and death metal

It was a great night and I'm still in shock at how big the punk scene is here - It's a lot like the UK scene was 15 years ago

Another gig at IJ Studios (Paya Lebar - Singapore) last night

Great gig but better still I played live for the first time in 12 years - Distrust played an Extreme Noise Terror cover so I got to play bass for them on that track

Saw The National at The Koko in Camden, London last Wednesday. Top night. Some great effects peddle playing. It's becoming a home from home lately having seen the magnificent Shins and the disappointing Decemberists a couple of weeks before. Off there to see Low in July too, doing Things We Lost In The Fire.

I'm stewarding at Reading this year and will be on the Disabled Viewing platforms. I aim to be wearing something St Pauli so come and say hello.

Maxi Priest at Newcastle Academy on Tuesday. Cool

Last time I saw him was at Brixton Academy in '88 or '89. I'm wondering what sort of audience he'll attract up here. Sly and Robbie at the Sage last year was all white bald blokes with beer guts.
Hang on a minute. that's me! Embarassed

There's about 100 bands playing and best of all it's FREE!
I'm looking forward to seeing This Is Seb Clarke & The Rumble Strips.

Tonight I went to see UK SUBS at The Shed in Leicester

What can I say - It's always a laugh to see the Subs but right now Charlie has got a really good lineup behind him

They played all the best songs from Another Kind Of Blues & Brand New Age

Also I have to say that I hope I look as well as Charlie when I'm 62 (And I hope I still have 1/2 of his energy)

All in all a cracking night out

I was at the Winter Sprinter on Tuesday night which was a tad disappointing. Darren hayman was as fine as ever but the Broken family band dulled my ears. Will be at Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan on the 23rd and the Radio Dept gig on the 26th. Hopefully will catch Sodastream on Saturday!
