I love them, and I got to meet the lead singer Jonsi last night!
He's an artist as well and is having an exhibition at a freind of mines gallery and he came to her birthday party yesterday.
Still get thrilled when I meet famous people I admire, although sometimes they are a disappointment, of course.

Coincidence. I'm listening to 'Takk' as I read through the posts on the board.....
I'd advise checking out their videos as well. _________________ 'The tragedy of humanity is not in the script; the tragedy is that there is no script'

I got the other half the 'Heima' DVD for xmas, it's fantastic.
The music is haunting with the band playing small venues around Iceland, and mix the concert footage with footage of the country.
We went t o Iceland a few years back - and Heima brought it all back. Brilliant. |

yes, i love the videos too, seen all of them i think, and i told Jonsi how much i like them, especially the jumping in puddles one with the old folk in a gang, plus the homoerotic one where the two boys kiss after playing footie, seen that one?
they did these free (i think) concerts in Iceland that became the basis of that DVD (haven't got it yet) and one of the Reykjavik gigs, in a park, was beamed back live to the National Film Theatre in London, and me and a friend attended, it was a Sunday night/Monday morning, what with them coming on late and the time difference.
So i told him i attended that, and had to catch a night bus home plus get up early for work the next day, and he seemed impressed.
another anecdote -
my favourite band off all time is the Pixies, and on there comeback DVD of a couple of years ago (which I do have) it shows them on the road in Europe and at one point they visit Sigur Ros's studios in Iceland. I think Sigur Ros seemed a bit indifferent/if not unfriendly to Frank Black and Kim Deal (who are god like figures to me!!) although i didn't tell Jonsi i thought that, of course, just told him I had the Pixies DVD with him on it, which he said he's never seen.
I was wearing a tin tin jumper yesterday and he told me he liked it!
I'll stop boring you now, i am meeting him again on thurs, but i think i have run out of things to talk about, we even discussed the alternative gay scene in London (such as it is, as he is here with his American boyfriend).
People weren't really impressed at work, only 2 of my colleagues in a team of 10 had heard of them!
I have visions of being on a guest list when they next play London, though. Tickets can be hard to get for certain gigs these days. |

I saw them perform at the Southbank when they supported Godspeed, you black emperor! Quite a contrast. Good night though. Curiously I can't remember why I didn't go to the aftershow (though I suspect it was probably because both bands have loads of members so the free beer would have gone in seconds ) _________________ Lover, Poet, Philosopher, Drunk and Bore...All in five easy pint shaped pieces. |

Like the new SR song up on their Myspace - Gobbledigook. A bit different from some of their other stuff but it works for me. |
