I know it's not really funny, but the thought that you can be arrested and tried for "insulting 'Turkishness'" has always amused me.
This isn't 'new' news as such, merely the continuation of a long running story that refuses to go away and as it hasn't really been mentioned on here before, I thought it post it.
The Turkish State's continuing denial of the Armenian Massacres, and the manner by which it deals with those who openly bring attention to the crimes committed would, ordinarily, have prevented it's joining the E.U.
At least you might have thought so. But it appears not to be the case. Were the events too long ago, are Armenians just not sexy enough for anyone to care, or is it just the need to have Turkey as a fully paid up member of Europe the real reason..?
