Verdammtes Schmuddelwetter! Always raining in Hamburg. Nice song - not heard it before. _________________ Der Junge von St. Pauli der hat die Welt geseh'n

Thanks for the links Toom.
Ghengis Khan is pure cheese genius, i'm seriously loving that.
Haven't looked to see which was earlier, Moskau or Boney M's Rasputin as there seem to be similarities.
I'd urge you to watch it, but the blokes there are an interesting bunch.
You've got Mr Black looking like Richard Clayderman, Mr Blue looking like a combination of a bald Richard O@Brien from Rocky Horror and a maskless Kendo Nagasaki, and as for Mr Green-well be afraid, be very afraid
Aliceb, you should like this track being a lover of the Eurovision, this should have won it at its' time. _________________ He didn't go round nowhere, i just sent him round ! |

'Hamburg im Regen' and 'Moskau' are always essential picks on the Silbersack's jukebox
This is another of my favourites

After doing some research(ahem)-Moskau was a tad later than Rasputin, as it dated from 1979-1980.
They even represented Germany in the Eurovision, but sadly not with this sure fure winner.
let's have a re-release now _________________ He didn't go round nowhere, i just sent him round ! |

I was under the impression the melody was partly based on a traditional Russian folksong. I don't know the name, but it was very popular on Radio Moscow in the late 80s, early 90s! I heard it played again by Russian buskers in Berlin in the mid 90s, and whenever I hear Moskau on NDR 90,3 I get goose pimples. The mind does play tricks on people though, and it could just somehow remind me of the Russian tune.
I couldn't find it on YOUTube - but I came across this -

Boney M's 'Rasputin'? Much prefer this version....
