After following Celtic since I was 10 y.o. I stopped following them about 9 years ago. (various reasons) I'm now 41 y.o.

My son Connor was born in 2000 and of course I wanted to get him into football. However due to some of the slime athat "associate" themselves with Glasgows Old firm I wanted to ensure he stayed away from them both.

I took him to see his local team (Clyde) when he was 3 and he's been going regularly since. In January 2006 he was chosen as the Clyde match mascot against Celtic in the Scottish Cup match at Broadwood (Roy Keanes debut, Du Wei, etc, etc.) Needless to say that was a memorable match...... Laughing and I felt no pain for my "old" team, only joy for Clyde.

As if things couldn't get much better than that, he won a "McDonalds" competition and in the summer of 2006 we both spent 3 days in Berlin prior to the WC final where I had a Category B seat in the main stand....and where was Connor?

Oh yes, the competition was to be a match mascot and he landed the plum job of walking onto the pitch with a certain Zinedine Zidane!! (I'm sure you read about it in the papers about how the UK winner of the mascot competition didn't want England anywhere near the final Wink )

So there ye go....that's my story. And i've been watching St. Pauli in Germany approx. once per year for the last 14 years. Going over agin for last home match v A. Achen.

Connor is now a St. Pauli fan as well....of course!!

Welcome to the board Andy. In case you've not got as far as the "Watching St Pauli in Edinburgh" thread, there's a few of us who watch games at the Murrayfield Bar in Roseburn. About half a mile from Haymarket station, so an easy enough trip for you from Croy if you fancy it.

Just don't keep talking about Du Wei.... Evil or Very Mad

P.S. I first learned of St. Pauli from a documentary on telly and strangely enough I was in Antwerp one week later to watch Celtic play Germinal Ekeren and saw 3-4 guys on the pitch wearing Skull/Crossbones tops and taking pics of the Celtic fans. I swapped my Celtic top with a guy called Dirk and started writing to a couple of them on a regular basis.

The following sason, I think, I was at the St.Pauli/Celtic party in Koln after the UEFA game and went to my first St. Pauli match soon after.

Andy.

I believe there are quite a few members planning a visit to this one - Sir Roger and I, Udo and Kowalski for a start. Laughing A few others have also signalled their intentions!!

Be warned that it's a public holiday that weekend and accomodation may be an issue. Rolling Eyes

Hi Andy welcome to the board.
Great story about your boy. I remember years ago going to Hampden to watch Hearts (some semi) anyway we all went into the Clyde supporters club along Rutherglen. I think it's flats now is that right?
Do you manage to get along to any Scotland games?

Aye Brido, ah'm a big fan of the national team.

Ah met my wife in Moscow 1995 when ah wis over for a Scotland Euro '96 qualifier. (0-0) We married in '96 and have 2 children. I've taken my son to a couple of international matches as well, 6-0 v Faroes and 3-1 v Ukraine.

I go tae all the home matches and manage 1 or 2 away each year. I'm booked for the game in Prague on May 30th and hope to go to Macedonia in September.

I have 3 German pals in Hamburg who are Dundee Utd. fans and they usually come to 1 or 2 Scotland games each year as well. However none are St. Pauli fans, one is B. Munich, one is HSV and the other BVB.

I try and get to Hampden when I can. I'm gonna get my boys along soon but this would have to be a weekend game. It would be late for us getting home (school in morning).
I still manage to get back up for a Hearts match now and again Rolling Eyes . I'm a member of a Hearts supporters club based in NW England. We support Carlisle Utd down here so it's going well at the mo Very Happy , don't wanna speak too soon though.
Anyway, next time I'm up for a Scotland match we could maybe meet up for a pint. Good luck against Dunfermline. Cheers.

We only found out that the bar could receive "Premiere" a few weeks ago. So far the record attendance is 9 and the average is about 4 or 5. I'd say there's maybe a dozen folk that have been at least once.
