I was in The Strawberry on Saturday night with Waddock Hunt and Sir Roger. Tend to go in The Bodega or The Bacchus pre-match though.

Pissed with the media at the moment.... why?
1) Fickle fans. 50000+ turn up for every Premiership match despite the shite we've had to watch over the last 10 years. Sound fickle to you? 2) Impatient for success. Last won a trophy in 1969, the Inter Cities Fairs Cup. It doesn't even exist anymore. Last won the FA cup in 1955, the top league championship in 1927. Never won the League Cup. How long do YOU think we should expect to wait for success then? Especially given the dosh spent on players, managers, stadium etc. 3) Geordie fans would rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0. Name fucking ONE. 4) High expectations. Maybe they're right about this one.... I expect to pay £585 a season to be EITHER entertained or see wins, not embarrased, frustrated or bored. I expect a manager and chairman who aren't money grabbing sleaze bags. I expect to see players trying when they're being paid £40000+ a week. I expect a manager who can organise and motivate a team and play fullbacks, midfield players and forwards in their RIGHT FUCKING POSITIONS.

Rant over. ( for now.....) Twisted Evil Crying or Very sad Twisted Evil

You are right about the media. but it is particularly whipped up by the London media, and basically there is a lot of resentment there. Many London-based sports desks have it in for us I think, largely because they think a North-East club should know its place as small fry, and be no threat to the ManUre versus Chelsea/Arsenal/Spurs show.

Also I think it is more entertaining for them for us to be shite and get our knickers in a twist about it and they just take the piss really.

I used to be a journalist (Today, Times, The Economist) for 10 years and had the displeasure of seeing some of these people in full bigoted anti-Northern frenzy. It used to really piss me off living down there an'all.

Just heard that we are supposed to be playing a 'friendly' pre-season game against the huns on Wednesday 6th August at SJP. I've emailed the club to complain (even though I'm out of the country then). There'll be trouble. I was at the Inter Cities Fairs Cup semi-final in 1969 when we beat them 2-0 on the night and on aggregate and the fighting and damage is still memorable. We played them 4 years ago in a pre-season tournament ( Feyenoord and Sporting Lisbon as well I think) but I wasn't around for the game nor can I remember the result. I think we won 3-1 though. There was trouble then as well.
The local constabulary won't be happy.

Good news...your 'friendly' with rangers is off due to the poor darlings losing the title (hee, hee) and having to play a CL Qualifier.

Just got my season ticket renewal form and the bastards have put the price up 10% to £658. Evil or Very Mad After the season we've had! Shocked After the last 3 seasons we've had! Embarassed
Seriously thinking about turning my back on the Plastic Prem and not renewing since the days of Ossie Ardiles as our manager. It would mean throwing my lot in with Blyth Spartans in the Conference North more often... but i'd have more cash to spend on trips to Hamburg.
Decision needs to be made by 22 June.

Oh, the St. Pauli season tickets have gone up, too, Les.

To stand on the Gegengerade this season I'll have to fork out an extra €10!!! That's €140 altogether. One year of NUFC or 6 years of St. Pauli? What a choice, what a choice. Razz Wink
