I'm off to Hampden for the Scottish Cup final next Saturday. My contacts in the Borders have got me a ticket and I'm going up with Billingham Chris. Problem is, I'm not too keen on either of the protagonists - unlike last time I was there (Gretna v Hearts) when I would have happily supported either. BTW It was Gretna in the end on account of I was in with their fans!
I'm in with the Queen of the South supporters this time and I hate the huns, so...
Suggestions? Just sit quietly? _________________ 'The tragedy of humanity is not in the script; the tragedy is that there is no script'

I'm sure after a few minutes of listening to the Hun songs and reading their banners you will be supporting Queen of the South with nearly as much fervour as Blyth Spartans Les... |

It was never going to be the huns (c'monnnn?).... it's just that I know squat about QotS and I'm sure that I heard some unpleasant rumours about a section of their fans sometime in the past. (That could be down to a couple of Berwick fans who I see at SJP from time to time though.) Will I be safe to take the St Pauli flag to annoy the pondlife in the other end of the ground? _________________ 'The tragedy of humanity is not in the script; the tragedy is that there is no script'

When Jim Thomson headed in the equaliser it was fucking pandemonium in the East Stand amongst 14000 Doonhamers. Billingham Chris reckons he has never seen me celebrate a goal so rapturously ( well since last month against our neighbours from Albania on wear at least!). The atmosphere amongst the boys and girls from the Borders was fantastic compared to the miserable fuckers in the opposite end of the ground. We had a great time and I would like to thank all the people around me who supported their team so well and who whistled so deafeningly to drown out the 'we are the people' chant from the huns. John, Chris and myself were proud to be 'Queens for a day'....
Thanks also to Graeme and Jill for their amazing hospitality at Hightae, Alan for getting the tickets and the two turnstile girls for their comments about Chris's shorts. Priceless! _________________ 'The tragedy of humanity is not in the script; the tragedy is that there is no script'

BTW Brido, there were very strong rumours that QoS will be playing their EUFA cup games at Carlisle. Any news? _________________ 'The tragedy of humanity is not in the script; the tragedy is that there is no script'

Believe it or not, one of my work colleagues who was born in Dumfries actually turned down the chance of a ticket he was offered.
Citing the reason for it that it would have cost him too much for the weekend-fuck that as it's a once in a lifetime chance for Queens- but around a dozen of his relatives travelled all the way from Australia to be there !
S'pose that's why he's a typical Chelski fan... _________________ He didn't go round nowhere, i just sent him round ! |

Les, I've not heard anything about QOS playing at Brunton Park but that would be very interesting. |
It would be the obvious choice but would UEFA not get funny about them playing it outside of their own country? |

Irish club (may have been Shelbourne) played a home UEFA game against Rangers in England a few years ago. |

I also think some clubs have played European matches outside their own country.
I'd go along if it was at Brunton Park. Still trying to find out more info tho. |

Yeah it was Shelbourne that played in England with a "home" match at Tranmeres' Prenton Park against the 'gers.
Not sure why, but we used to play 'em when we pre-seasoned it in Ireland around 10 years ago _________________ He didn't go round nowhere, i just sent him round ! |
