Peter Beardsley played for Vancouver Whitecaps in the early 80s. There's your Toon connection.

From Wikipedia:

'In 2001, the team reverted back to the old Vancouver Whitecaps moniker (signifying both the 'white caps' of the nearby mountains, and the waves of the Pacific Ocean). '

Looks like we're both right Frisco, though the team badge (old and new) has a wave on it so your answer is probably more accurate.

As Smokie nearly sang, "...........Carver. Carver, who the f*ck is Carver?"

As cumbie says, it is Mo Johnston i was talking about.

As Baloo the Bear nearly sang in the Jungle Book ' ....get with the beat celtic_rebel'

Carver replaced Johnston as Head Coach/ Manager of Toronto this season.

good news! the girl I love is from Vancouver Island (and lived in Nanaimo, Victoria, Saltspring Isl. - all over the place actually) and there is a chance that we might move there or to Vancouver in two years or so (currently we call Auckland, NZ our home). Anyways - and sorry for being totally off topic - love to see another St Pauli supporter in BC (that hopefully knows where to watch St. Pauli or is willing to join me in front of the Computer watching the Flimmerkiste!)

Small world ... for sure as for most us in North America pretty much sitting in fromt of the pc for St. pauli matches for now who knows in a few years ... for sure we have a decent football culture here in Vancouver and with many diverse nationalities. But when you move out we can catch some live footy I would be more than happy to talk to a fellow St. Pauli supporter ! Good luck with your plans but if you are out here by 2010 Vancouver host the winter olympics so lots to do.

Cheers

Yeah Bobby Robson was part of the team in 1967 a little before my time but then had his first coaching stint with the team beforing going home. I would of loved to see him play in his day ..oh yeah a young Puskas also played on the team as well. Ahhh still my favourite player to play in Vancouver was Beardo Peter Beardsley ...class

I was at the game it was absolutely embarrassing. I think that you guys should expect a good ass-whooping on the 9th.

Laughing Well news flash the 9th has come and gone and the mighty TFC could only tie us Whitecaps 2-2 in the second leg .. so much for the "ass-whooping"... MLS were having a laugh ... repeat

Toronto are my favourite team in Canada thanks to Carl Robinson, a decent Welsh midfielder Wink
