|
|
Hi Guys!
I'm going to spend my holiday in Scotland, but on Friday, 8th of August, I'd like to watch the game Sankt Pauli vs Aue (DFB-Pokal) in a London Pub.
I was told that "Zeitgeist" at Vauxhall is one possibility, but it's a German pub and I don't wanna spend my time in Britain with Germans (apart from my mates). Do you know any other pubs???
Thanks in advance! |

IMHO Schmutzwassersammler you'd be unlikely to bump into too many Germans at Zeitgeist on a Friday night... they generally show up on the Sunday lunchtime (unless the St Pauli game clashes with a Koln game and the bar staff invite all their mates over.)
Other viewing possibilities would be The Famous Three Kings - see watching st pauli thread - which is very anglo but doesn't have the range of beers, or the Bavarian Bierhaus which is amusingly kitsch but very expensive and would be full of all the Dresdener Bank City Boys on a Friday evening... _________________ Lover, Poet, Philosopher, Drunk and Bore...All in five easy pint shaped pieces. |

If you're coming to Scotland why not miss out London and watch the game at the Murrayfield Bar in Edinburgh? I am presuming the game is on Premiere OK? |

Thanks for the advise, but our flight leaves very early on Saturday morning from Stansted. So we're planning to come to London on Friday afternoon, watch the game and then go to Stansted late at night. |

I do!!!!
If you're sure it's going to be televised I'd go for Zeitgeist. I might even join you.

I guess I shouldn't what with trying to keep the numbers of Germans he might bump into as low as possible... _________________

I need to change my vote... Although I would argue - as always, I know - for her Turinese Butterbean Bruschetta:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (as expensive as you can afford)
Large segment of a garlic clove
Freshly cracked black pepper
Coarse ground sea salt
Small tin of butterbeans
Chop garlic in a goodfellas type style (as fine as your patience allows), put it in a bowl with all the other gunk and mash it up to a lumpy paste. Season. Spread on warm toast with a drizzle of olive oil. Eat accompanied by a decent glass of Montepulciano d'Abbruzzio.
If you're lucky you won't have to make the main course _________________ Lover, Poet, Philosopher, Drunk and Bore...All in five easy pint shaped pieces. |

Thanks to all of you for your answers, we're leaving tomorrow for Edinburgh and since there's no alternative to "Zeitgeist", we'll be watching the game there.
John, I ow you a beer of your choice IF Sankt Pauli beats Aue! |
